We were commissioned by the National Trust to make a custom ‘narrative’ wallpaper for the dining room in Avebury Manor as part of its restoration. We created a hand-painted China trade scenic, portraying aspects of Chinese life in the 18th and 19thCenturies following the eminence of the East India Trading Company. Creating dramatic interest, the story unfolds from left toright as the journey follows the working of land through to goods passing through the Hongs of Canton.
