Fromental at LAPADA 2024: Celebrating Craftsmanship and Innovation

This October, LAPADA Berkeley Square Fair will once again bring together the best of art, design, and history, and we’re excited to be part of it. From 23rd-27th October, Fromental will present two standout collaborations, showcasing our commitment to craftsmanship and creativity.

A Bespoke Design for the Berkeley Square Collective stand

A highlight of the fair will be the Berkeley Square Collective, curated by the talented Stephanie Barba Mendoza. This year, we’ve partnered with Stephanie to create a bespoke wallpaper design, Nobuko, which will be at the heart of the space. Inspired by her recent travels to Tokyo and the work of French sculptor Ivan Leon Alexandre Blanchot, Nobuko blends Art Deco influences with modern techniques, offering a striking vision of elegance and history.

The design, hand-finished on iridescent paper, features a floral motif in a trompe l’œil style, evoking a stone bas-relief. Framed by faux marbles inspired by the Villa of Mysteries in Pompeii, the space captures both historical depth and contemporary artistry. Stephanie’s curation of the stand will weave together art, antiques, and design, offering visitors a unique experience that bridges the past and the present.

Fromental’s Exterior Installation: A Modern Take on a Classic Design

This year, our involvement extends beyond the fair’s interiors. We’ve also designed a striking exterior wrap for Berkeley Square, featuring a lush, classic chinoiserie design that celebrates the beauty and history of the space.

What sets this installation apart is its innovative use of Augmented Reality (AR). Visitors can scan the design with their smartphones and watch as the intricate Nightingale songbird takes flight, adding an interactive element to the artwork. It’s a perfect blend of tradition and modern technology, offering a fresh way to experience the craftsmanship behind Fromental’s designs.

The exterior wrap is a nod to classical craftsmanship, with rich details including magnolias, fruit trees, and peonies, all brought to life with our signature hand-painted artistry. It’s a celebration of historical techniques with a modern twist—showing how tradition can evolve with the times.

Our collaborations this year reflect Fromental’s philosophy: honour the past while embracing the future. As Lizzie Deshayes, Creative Director at Fromental, notes, "This collaboration explores the interplay between historical influences and contemporary design. By integrating technology with classical art, we’re pushing creative boundaries while staying true to our roots."

We’re proud to partner with LAPADA, an organisation known for celebrating artistic excellence. Together, we’re bringing a fresh perspective to the world of luxury interiors, blending heritage and innovation in a way that’s sure to captivate visitors.
