Beatrix Potter’s mischievous Peter Rabbit and other much-loved characters inhabit Fromental’s signature Chinoiserie, enlivening elegant scenes to spark children’s imaginations and create indelible memories.
Inspired by the lively charm of Potter’s original drawings, Fromental co-founders Lizzie Deshayes and Tim Butcher looked to historical Chinoiserie wallpapers which featured undersized figures drawn along the bottom edge, and wove the beloved author’s animals into their signature style.
Beatrix Potter’s distinctive illustrations have always captivated children with their gentle humour and innate elegance, balancing sensitive observations of nature and a sense of fantasy.
Similarly, it is the whimsical approach to natural elements that makes Chinoiserie so enchanting. Bringing the two together creates comforting rooms with a playful sense of sophistication, delighting all generations.
“All the diverse aspects of this project combine for a charming marriage of decorative arts, with 18th-century historical precedent meeting some of England’s most beloved children’s illustrations. We have not changed our Chinoiserie style, nor have we changed the handwriting of Peter Rabbit as drawn by Beatrix Potter, yet somehow they seamlessly work together.’”

All our printed designs originate as hand-painted, full-scale works of art. We scan the completed paintings in super-high resolution before preparing them for print.
It’s a meticulous process, and we take great care to retain all of the attributes that made the original piece so special: paying particular attention to capturing the nuances in the brushwork that bring so much energy and character to the hand-painted original. Focusing on these minute details is how we make sure our printed products have the same integrity as our handmade wallcoverings.
Each panel is 36” (915mm) wide
First measure the width of the wall or the full perimeter of the room.
Divide this width by the panel width which is 36” (panel_width).
